Avataar Skincare founder Saumya Misra belongs to Bhopal, India, and works on skincare and body care solutions for herself and the people around her. She completed her schooling at Carmel Convent Senior Secondary School, BHEK, Bhopal. Having an incline towards technology, she enrolls in a Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) in Electronics and Communication Engineering from Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology.

After her graduation, she did a small course in the Exchange program where she provided consulting for the premium hotel chains. She did her PGP (post-graduation program) at the Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Bangalore for two years. Saumya used to do some stand-up comedy during her college as well. After completing her studies in 2015, she went on to a job at Bain & Company where she was a manager. Starting from a base level, she reached high on the corporate ladder.

However, before Bain & Company, she also did a summer associate program with them where she got a full-time selection. She showed her potential in two months. Utilizing her college degree, she worked as a Production Engineer at Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited, Bhopal while pursuing her additional course. Avataar Skincare provides four main categories of service: Laser facials which are around Rs. 3,000 to Rs. 5,000. The second one is permanent hair reduction for Rs. 35,000 for 6 sessions. The third is weight reduction for Rs. 3,800 for a single session of the abdomen, and Rs. 10,000 per session including other parts. The last is skin rejuvenation for Rs. 3,000-9,000 per session. They have 50 therapists for them.

Avataar Skincare Shark Tank Journey:

Avataar Skincare’s founder journey started after she observed that not only she but many people are going through some skin or body issues facing criticism and low self-esteem for their looks. Saumya asked for Rs. 70 Lakhs for 1% equity at a valuation of Rs. 70 Crores. Her cousin is in the laser business so she gets access to cheaper laser devices. He got the most results from tier 2 and tier 3 cities after which Saumya got to know the opportunity in the market.

Shark Anupam gave the first offer for Rs. 70 Lakhs for 3% equity. While Shark Aman gave the same offer. However, Saumya wants to match the valuation. She counteroffered for a debt-equity combination to get a Rs. 70 crore valuation. They revise the offer to Rs. 20 Lakhs for 0.28% equity and Rs. 50 Lakhs debt @14% interest for three years. Saumya Misra counteroffers Rs. 35 Lakhs as equity and the rest as debt. Both Shark Aman and Anupam combine and make a deal with her.

Avataar Skincare Funding:

Avataar Skincare started with an investment of Rs. 1.5 Crores and gets a grant for $100k later. Avataar Skincare funding from Shark Tank is for Rs. 35 lakhs for 0.5% equity and Rs. 35 Lakhs for 14% interest for three years.
